Do NOT jailbreak Windows Phone:

Even though it would be great to jailbreak Windows 10 Mobile, there are major issues I came across:
  1. You need the firmware files (FFU archive) for your specific device (with matching Product type & Product Code) Not just your phone model and it can not be the most recent build.
It is near imposable to get the FFU files though, Almost all of them point to https://lumiafirmware.com/ since its the only real archive of these files (Microsoft no longer has them to download on there servers as of 2025) and there are few others places out there with the FFU archives. It make be the same model and even the same Product Type but if the Product Code does not match it WII BRICK YOU'RE DEVICE. There is also the country code as well and its hard to find a American English binary as well. The few downloads are paid or Russian sites that are both sketchy as well there unlikely not the correct match. Back to lumiafirmware.com, there are so concerned with spam that when you visit the web site, you have to do a captcha then receive a code that you have to email them and wait up to 48 hours, but they will likely deny your request if they think your email is suspicious (unfortunately my name is uncommon so they could fink its not my real name even though it is. As well as if it is not a common email domain, if they suspect it is from a VPN IP address or a Cellular IP address. Or accidentally clicking on too many third party links on there website. Common third-party places of OS installers like the internet archive have none, and mega + google drive links expire or ban over a period of time so there seem to be all dead.

  2. The Windows Phone Internals tool is what jailbreaks (booth unlocking the boot loader and rooting the device) but there official site no longer works and I cant download the needed files from that tool since both there servers and Microsoft's servers are now offline. Then back to question 1 that its near impossible to source your correct firmware from elsewhere.

  3. Like some game consoles, there are fusees built into the phone that could permanently blow if you try to downgrade or install the wrong type of firmware, preventing further rooting, restoring to OEM settings and and likely break the device entirely.

  4. There is relatively little archives for the apps to side load, especially fro 10 mobile, Windows Phone 8.x has more options (mainly games, since they can usually be used without connecting to a server that is likely dead). But there is little benefit now.

  5. Windows Device Recovery tool no longer works, there is a offline installer for the tool itself out there but it needs to connect to Microsoft servers to fetch the image files to install to your phone that no longer exists (the servers containing the files).
