What is the difference between a .RAP and a .RIF file?
A .RIF is a official decryption key for PS3 software. it is not just tied to that software but to the PSN account and activated PS3.
A.RAP is an unofficial decryption key where the account and PS3 specific data has been removed. It is meant for unofficial backups and transfers of PSN software.
You need to convert back to .RIF in order for the software to work. Or have a modded PS3 or emulator that can support .rap directly.
Apollo Save Tool is a program that can be installed on modded PS3's that can decrypt you're officially+successfully installed software (.rif) to .rap for transfer from you're system. This is done by "User Tools" > "Export Licenses" > "Export all licenses as .RAPs"
