What is a PS3 EDAT file?

This is a ps3 file that has been encrypted with a edat container and paired with a corresponding .rif or .rap file to decrypt from that edat container.
There is software like data_makenp on GitHub that can decrypt the edat file to its original, decrypted file. You will need a .rap (or a .rif that is then converted to a .rap) to decrypt the data.
