How DVD Menu Code/Software works

DVD Publishers create there byte code to target the DVD Virtual Machine, then that DVD VM (as a part of the DVD Player software, both as an app and on dedicated hardware) will interpreter the DVD byte code to you're CPU's native ISA instructions. The name of this virtual ISA is called the "Virtual Machine (VM) DVD command set".

The "Virtual Machine (VM) DVD command set" was replaced in Blu-Ray Disc with the much more common and sophisticated byte code language called Java.
