Get raw PS3 Cutscene from games (Only tested to work on Hatsune Miku Project Diva F 2nd):
0. Prerequisites/requirements:
This is only possible through the BD (Physical) version of PS3 games.
You will also have all ready needed to extract the physical game using a PS3 with multi man as folders (not ISO!)
and move the game to PC or have an ftp connection to PS3 to access files un-encrypted.
You will also need a Linux PC with ffmpeg program installed (Most Linux distros have that).
1. Location and file types:
With in the game folder, navigate to ~/PS3_GAME/USRDIR/rom/
.This is usually where the game files are stored.
The audio track and video tracks are in separate folders and containers, but most likely have the same file name, but different file extension.
The video files are located in the "movie" folder (With file type ".avc") and sounds located in the "sound" folder (with file type ".ogg").
Copy the same name, different file type video and audio and move then to a local folder to start the conversion.
2. Command to convert/merge (with exact quality):
To convert (and merge) the files with exact codeics but in the accessible mp4 files on Linux (File can be played most other places as well):
ffmpeg -i opening.avc -i opening.ogg -vcodec copy -acodec copy opening.mp4
Replace "opening" filename with the file names you need. The last file is the output as an MP4 container.
You should now have a PS3 Cutscene with exact quality from source playable on most of your devices.
3. (Optional) Add metadata:
The Gnome software of "easytag" on Linux (works on KDE Plasma desktop too, and the Windows OS). Can edit MP4 metadata with GUI.
If looking for an Image, the /PS3_GAME of the PS3 BD game directory should have the game icons (both the mini icon on XMB and the XMB background for the game.
