Note about h265 and interlaced video: ====================================== h265 origonal relase does not suport interlace video (just progressive). It did later add interlace video, but it is not standadized and diffrent players treat it diffrently. So if I where to convert a h264 to h265 interlaced video through ffmpeg, vlc would not suport hardware acelleration, as well as show signifacant deinterlaced artifacts. PowerDVD 20 can suport HW (so video does not look chopy, runs somoth), but can show major artifacting. These videos are unfortantly no good to h265, unless I deinterlace them first, but it is very challenging, slow, and error prone. I can use the "mediainfo-gui" program on linux to find if the source video is interlaced or progessive before I start converting. It is under view > text > scan type. For me personally, most dvd and blu-ray movies are progressive As well as the COSMOS TV show, but almost the entirety of my Miku Magical Miria BD's are interlaced (other then the BD menu's for it for year 2018 and newer).
